What is GSD (General Sewing Data)?
GSD stands for (General Sewing Data). GSD is a simple technique for method analysis and setting time standards for sewing manufacturing products in the garment industry. It can be used to evaluate all operation, including Cutting, Sewing, Pressing, Finishing, Quality Control and Packing.
GSD have a total of 39 codes for the First Label and 28 codes for the Second Label 11 Codes. GSD time is expressed in “Time Measurement Units,” Which we call TMU, that are converted to Basic Minutes through the following formula:
1 Minute = 2000 TMU
The Main Use of GSD
GSD system is designed to aid management and industrial engineering. Here is some use of the general sewing data:
- Product Costing
- Line Balancing
- Pre-production Planning
- Time Standards
- Operator Training
- Method Standardization
- Product Cost
- Efficiency
